Natural Pest and Rodent Control Through Using Nest Boxes for Barn Owls, Kestrels, and Bluebirds
To help reduce the amount of poisons in the environment, farmers and property owners can establish high numbers of rodent and insect eating birds by erecting nest boxes designed for the proper species. Nest box programs not only lower the need for poisons, they also lower costs for the farmer and property owner. Predatory birds such as barn owls, kestrels, and bluebirds create a low-maintenance, self-sustaining system that renews itself year after year. Such populations of birds exert a constant pressure on pest species such as mice, voles, moles, rats, gophers, and numerous injurious insects.
